Nike Vomero 5
I was honestly pretty blown away when I saw this colorway and tbh I didn't even know that Nike had this in their archive AND the fact that they SAT in outlets was crazy to me.
Materials: this model really shines from an overall design standpoint. The majority of the upper is made of a big hole mesh. The leather in the toe, has a very cheap plastic feeling & imo seems like more of a design feature rather than functionality. On the side panels you have soft, squishy rubber like cage on it that creates this really unique look & is probably one of my favorite features. On the back heel, it has this triangle design made out of this hard plastic, that is prolly the craziest feature on this sneaker. (If you're wondering, it doesn't add any discomfort) Last thing I will mention is the outsole, it's not actually yellowed, it's the same faded yellow that was used on the Travis Scott AM270, so it'll be interesting to see how it holds up overtime. Overall, I think the design features were very nice, but the 'material' quality was decent..
Comfort/Sizing: imo, this is a pretty comfortable model. If I were to compare it to another sneaker, I would say it's similar to a 2002r but more stable if that makes any sense. It has a nice squishy feel to it, but not overly squishy & unstable like boost. This is something that I could easily be worn all day without any discomfort. In terms of sizing, go tts. I grabbed these in a 9.5W/8M and they fit me perfectly.
Overall Opinion: tbh, the sneaker is beautiful from an overall design standpoint. I'm glad they are bringing this model back because I personally really enjoy the Vomero 5 & find it pretty comfortable. It fits in with the current trend surrounding retro runners, but also has a somewhat feels futuristic at the same time. However, if you're big on quality & you're comparing the materials of it to a New Balance, I would say imagine the 1906r and this would be the best comparison. Overall, if you're on the fence with this sneaker, I would try out a pair and see what you think, I personally really like them.
