Concepts x New Balance 1906U 'Hours & Days'
I was really impressed when these came in & truthfully, pictures don't give them justice bc they're really nice in hand. The placement & choice of color is well done while also paying homage to the NB 999 Seal, but this time w/ a modern day spin on it.
Materials: the mesh used is a white, 💎 pattern mesh that gives off the aesthetic as rip stop, but isn't. Then, moving to the toe cap, there's a soft, tan suede that wraps around the toe & stops at the 1st set of eyelets. On the medial side of the toe cap is an olive green rubber panel (1906U). Beneath the tan hit is a khaki suede w/ ⬛ patterns debossed into it. This khaki hit carries t/o the midfoot & goes beneath the the N logo g finished off at the top 3 eyelets. The N-lock is my favorite feature bc on the lateral side, there's a khaki N logo, while on the medial side, the N-lock is done in a baby 🔵. Following beneath the N logo is a light 🟤 3m panel that is present on both sides of the sneaker. Moving to the back heel, there's a 🔵 plastic cage that wraps around the back heel & has a mini NB logo slapped in the middle of it. Shifting to the inside is a topographic insole that carries the pattern on the entirety of both insoles. Lastly, on the tongue, you'll find more of that 💎 weave mesh, but this time in a olive green hue. In closing, there's a lot of unique features with these, but overall they did an excellent job with this design.
Comfort/Sizing: the 1906U is a pretty comfortable model imo. It has a pretty squishy feel, but a smidge more firm than the 1906r. It uses the same outsole as the 2002r, therefore, the comfort will be similar. In terms of sizing, I'd go with your tts in these.
Overall Opinion: this is gonna be unpopular, but I like this design better than the 999's. Imo, the colorblocking of these flows together better & feels more aesthetically pleasing, even though the OG is great too. I think it's dope that they brought back this cw bc the OG is essentially non existent & I'm able to own something that pays homage to the og & to Chase, who was a veteran & is the main reason I started this page, so cheers 🍻
