CDG Homme Plus x Nike Air Foamposite One 'Cat Eye'
The black CDG Foamposite is one of my favorite foams that I own & I remember when they originally dropped, the mold used on the upper really intrigued me. Seeing how these had similar characteristics as the Olympic medals & kinda felt like a fusion of the og pairs, PLUS a lowered retail, I copped on drop day & I'm glad I didn't wait bc they sold out pretty quickly.
Materials: the upper of this sneaker is a squishy foam-like panel with a circular pattern that carries throughout the entire upper. The panels have shiny characteristics that are similar to the reflection of a medal that changes given the lighting when you tilt it up & down. Moving to the back heel, there's a leather panel with CDG Homme Plus printed in white. Above the panel is an Olympic medal themed pull tab with glittery lines in 🥇🥈🥉 paying homage to the Olympic medals given to the winning athletes. Regarding branding, near the bottom of the eyelets, there's a mini swoosh logo in white & on the insole, there's 3 mini swooshes and more CDG branding. Overall, given the timing of the release & design paying tribute to the Olympics, I personally liked this colorway, but the og still reigns supreme for me.
Comfort/Sizing: the Foamposite is a tank lol. It has a pretty bouncy/springy feeling, & the best way I can describe it is it feels like your walking on a squishy spring, but w/ stability. For sizing, I went half up (8.5) & personally feel like I should've gone tts in these bc there's about a half size of room in them. Imo, go tts.
Overall Opinion: I really like the aesthetic of the CDG pairs. The way the panels change given the direction you hold the shoe reminds me of a medal where the outer edges of it change given the direction you hold it. With these releasing near the Olympics & the use of 🥉🥈🥇 on the pull tab, I feel like this was a nicely thought out design that gave people another shot at owning a similar design to the og foam set. If you missed out on the OG set, I wouldn't sleep on these, bc I don't see any restocks happening in the future & I'm assuming based on availability, they were somewhat limited.
