I am a sneakerhead episode 197 - @E_the_astranot
Hello everyone my name is Eric Peralta or @E_the_astranot on Instagram.
I’ve been collecting since 2014 steadily. I used to collect jordans before that but stopped collecting for years and then I regained my passion for sneakers in 2014. I’ve managed to accumulate about 100+ pairs so far hard to keep count sometimes due to me selling and trading pairs all the time. As far as a favourite brand at the moment, I'm all about ASICS. The ASICS Gel Lyte V has to be my favourite model out of the bunch.
I was born and raised in Queens NY and I used to interact with local shops more often, but nowadays I've been more about work and family so that has made things more difficult for me so I just do more online shopping than anything else. I honestly haven't felt like i’ve needed a pair so bad where I need to pay way above retail, but I have paid about 280$ for a pair of VNDS Ronnie Fieg “Knicks” Gel Lyte III’s ECP pack. I think that’s about the most I've paid honestly.
The sneaker community IMO has become a lot more of a business than anything else. A lot of people forgot about how sneakers were the one thing that brought them together no matter what the background and turned into more of a business relations as supposed to more of a friendship. Now don’t get me wrong their still a few out there that you can relate with and grow a bond with, but it’s a dying breed. It turned into who can “cook” (resell) the most nowadays. As far as anything that I would like to be changed is the access that true sneakerheads have to all these especially limited releases. It’s becoming harder and harder to access sneakers nowadays.
My favourite release of 2022 would have to be the Asics gel Lyte III Atmos x Sneaker Freaker “alley cats”.
